SEPTA - Investigative Reporting

I happened to be at the Market East Station (10th and Market Sts.) -- one of SEPTA's regional rail hubs -- last night, and stumbled upon a sight that allows me to follow up my post from yesterday with some first-hand reporting!

As soon as I entered the desolate, brown-tiled space (hemmed in by rectangular wooden blocks masquerading as benches) that formed the waiting area above the train platform, I noticed a series of giant green letters, like alien invaders, plastered on the windows that looked down below. Read together, the letters -- resoundingly -- spelled "GO GREEN," with little SEPTA symbols -- almost like Irish shamrocks -- adorning both ends.

I paused, surprised at being face to face with SEPTA's environmental kindliness so quickly after reading about it.

But there it was -- no indication of how this statement applied to Septa --
-- but a massive set of letters, like a shout out, glued on the station windows. Concise, graphic, and effective -- that's Philly!

I approached the affixed symbols cautiously and reached out my hand to touch them. Seconds later, I realized they were made of artificial grass!
