Did anyone else hear the rumor that Michael Bloomberg's planning to run for prez as an independent, and PA governor Ed Rendell'll be his running mate?
What are they THINKING?
We should all pray that they don't decide to do something that foolish, and split the independent vote, AGAIN (Remember Ralph Nader in 2001)!
Don't get me wrong, I respect Nader and agree will a host of his views, but we're talking about the future of the United States here -- one of the most powerful nations on earth. I understand that anyone (that qualifies) can run for office in our land of liberty -- and it's wonderful privilege -- but let's think practically! Do we really want to see another tanned, oily-mouthed, hyper-conservative -- like Mike Huckabee -- become president because we were foolish enough to posit two more or less (and more's the key word) liberal candidates on the ballot?
Of course, it's morally justifiable to run for office because of ethical-type reasons (like Nader did): to demonstrate the malleability of democracy for example, or that alternative voices exist inside the American political landscape, etc., but after 8 YEARS of what we've experienced -- PLEASE, PLEASE, everyone use your head -- THIS MEANS YOU, BLOOMBERG & RENDELL) -- and give us the strongest chance to win back the Oval Office. Vote for Hilary or Obama -- whoever wins the nomination, or Bloomberg -- I would say -- if he were the only non-Republican candidate on the ballot -- but he won't be! Give us a chance to substitute compassion, humanity, diplomacy, and shreds of morality back into our staggering world, instead of more brutality, division, isolation and fear! Please!
Or maybe the whole thing will turn out like it did with Ross Perot in 1992. Remember him -- the Texan with big ears?
